The story of Martha and Mary. I had never heard it but the jist is that Jesus came to visit them one day and Martha was busy with all the details, making sure everything was in place, being a bit too tidy and Mary was sitting back and chattin with Jesus. Tonight in spiritual direction we talked about which one of the women we identified with more. I decided that I am more Martha but wish to be more like Mary. The conclusion was that Mary was actually listening to Jesus while Martha was also right by preparing for Jesus. To find the balance: be organized enough that you can hear God when you need to listen. This is something I have to work on. I have been so disconnected from my spirit lately. I’ve just been livin life and not really thinking about it. When I am thankful and when I take time to pray, things are always better and are deeper, filling my spirit, enlightening my soul.

I GOT A NEW JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It happened so quickly. I saw the job posted on monday, applied on tuesday, interviewed on wednesday and they gave me the job on thursday! Now that’s what I’m talkin’ bout. Here are the pro’s: no more bank bullshiz, more then just the holiday off (like christmas, I get three whole days!), work that I actually believe in, (I’ll be the office assistant to the woman who runs the programs at the school of theology), it pays a tinsy bit more ( and I mean a tinsy), the work will be challenging (I will actually use my brain), I will get to be more involved in the seminary thing which is the whole reason we are here, and did I mention, no bank bull shiz.
There are some cons: I won’t be able to hit anyones car with the drawer anymore or watch there checks blow away on windy days, I won’t be seeing my favorite customer Mr. Snowden (Or Mr. Magoo as I so named him), I won’t be able to recooperate from a long night of drinking and staying up late at work, I won’t have the time to make the hand made cards I’ve been dishin out, I won’t be able to see my account at any moment I want (which drives Wil nuts. He would buy something and I would be calling him two minutes later to be mad about it…), and I will actually miss the people I work with (they’re good folks).
As you can see, the pros definitly out weight the cons. I hope my new job is everything I need it to be. But for now, it is friday the 13th so I gotta go celebrate!
A Scientific Explaination July 12, 2007
I was working my fourth job tonight (babysitting this way adorable little 23 month old chinese girl) and I had put her to bed and was waiting on the parent. The parent’s sister comes in and we are talking about where I’m from and blah blah blah. She goes in and turns off Mary’s light and shuts the door seperating Mary’s door and the hallway and then shuts the door seperating the hallway from us. We do some more talking and then we hear the door knob turning. We both looked at the knob and sure enough, it was jiggling back and forth. I thought to myself: Mary is totally not big enough to have crawled out of her crib, opened her door and is now opening this door. After a few more seconds of jiggling, the door opened slowly and there was no one and nothing there.

This past week flew by in a tornado of right, white and blue. Wil’s family came up for the fourth and Sewanee does it up right. I think that in the past, the most I ever did for the fourth was grill a dog and see some explosions. We started the day at 10am at the Mutt Show, then we headed to the arts and crafts fair, and then we watched the parade. After that we went to the air show and then went out to eat Mexican (oddly enough) and finished the night with fireworks. I was exhausted but I felt oh so patriotic.
This past weekend, I went to the my Unlce Mike’s lake house for some family reunion fun. Nothing too exciting happened. We boated, we saw Denzel Washington’s lake house, we played horse shoes. It was what all reunions should be………a bunch of crazy people who have one thing in common: blood.
I added some new photos of the week. Speaking of ( ?), I’d like to give a shout out to Spencer Snyder who randomly wrote me the other day and who I have yet to write back. Hope all is well and I’ll be in touch asap.
