As 2008 rears its fury head, I contimplate all that is and was 2007:

-Prince rocked out at the Super Bowl.

-Friends had babies or announced the fact that they will have babies:  Ann and Matt, Erin and Matt, Joanna and Grant, Sarah and Jon, Austin and Jill, Javiera and Mark, Spencer and Melody, the list goes on…….

-The last Harry Potter book was read and loved by most.

-Sylus got cuter

-Britney Spears shaved her head, showed her puna na na, ran over some papz, lip synched a drugged out performance of her new song, went to court many many times…it was definitly the year of Britney

-I got a new job!  Yay!

-Halloween Nativity  went over very well.

-The neigborhood delt with psychos among us.

-I saw more frat penis with pee pee then I ever care to see.

-Wil and I broke into the Chatt aquarium.

-80’s music still makes me so very very happy.

-I could actually see global warming this year.  Scary!

-The memory and reality of Katrina still lives on in our friends The Courtney’s.

-My first grey hair was discovered and pulled by the Gatta Daughta.

-Girl Lake Day ‘07 was a success!

Another year has gone by……. December 28, 2007

According to “by-the-book” Episcopalians, Christmas has just begun.  For me, it is so over and I am left with a sugar hangover and the need for lots of sleep.

Wil and I traveled to Asheville and enjoyed seeing family and friends.  Some highlights for me were: seeing Ian play drums while hanging out with long time friend Marcy (as beautiful as ever), watching Wil and family try on the hilarious wigs Wil got for Christmas from Mamaw, making and eating delicious food,  going to Waffle House at 1am on Christmas Eve Morn, recieving amazing gifts, getting to see Dan and Sallie at the Camp Henry party, finding out yet another friend is pregnant, and getting to see my Grandad and cousins who I never get to see.

Of course, there were some let downs over the holidays:  having large zits just in time to see friends from a far, not getting to see some close friends (you know who you are), not getting to see my niece Rachel and her parents, wishing I had more to give the people I love, and the speed at which Christmas went by…way, way too fast.

I enjoyed giving Aunt Patty the picture my dad took of the via duct on the parkway.  She has a way of bringing back the memories that is hard to ignore.  I also enjoyed the way my mom took things off the wall to give to me even though my dad wasn’t to keen on it.  He took the most amazing pictures and then framed them beautifully and I commented on how great they were and wa-la, they was mine.

So as we do extra sit ups to get rid of the egg nog residue and figure out places to stuff our new loot, I hope everyone is having a great holiday and will welcome a brand new year.

We are one week away from Christmas and I find myself unable to concentrate at work.  Wil and I will be driving to Asheville to see as many friends as possible, as many relatives as possible, and eat as much as possible.

I find that people either get really happy or really grumpy at Christmas.  I tend to get very happy and then the day after, I crash and burn.

I am the master at regifiting.  Some people might be offended by the idea of regifting but I’m okay with it.  For example, I recieved a delicious treat (which we will not name just incase someone knows what I’m talking about) that I knew was one of my friends favorites so instead of me just eating it, I gave it to them as a present when I probably wouldn’t have given them anything at all.  See!  Isn’t that nice?  I don’t regift crappy things, only the creme de la creme of my gifts.

I would like to bring up “The Christmas Sweater.”  For years, my mom has tried to buy me Christmas Sweaters and I have dodged them except for those few, uncertain years between the ages of 11-14.  I had a sweater with penquins wearing Santa hats stacked up in the shape of a Christmas Tree.  I also had one with a Santa outlined in glittery puffy paint.  Don’t cha know I puffy painted that bad boy myself.  I don’t hate on people who wear them but why do we see more of them at Christmas?  I have yet to see a Thanksgiving Sweater.  I wonder what that would look like?  Probably a turkey wearing a pilgrims hat or a cornacopia.  I have seen Halloween Sweaters but never a Valentine’s Day Sweater.  Has anyone ever seen a Hanukkah Sweater?  It would have to be light blue with a sideways dradle and the Star of David.

Ahh Christmas. A time to waste money on wooden nutcrackers that don’t actually crack nuts and foliage that will end up dumped in the woods.

I’m SO doing this next year.

A Kawasaki Christmas December 12, 2007

This past weekend, Wil and I were aksed to be one of Santa’s reindeer in the Monteagle Chistmas Parade.  After bundling up and hacking our way through the fog, we made it to the line up site where we decorated ourselves and the motorcycle.  I noticed that there were just a handful of other floats but I thought maybe we were in the VIP section, we were helping escort Santa after all.

After given the name Comet (the cleanest of the reindeer) and adourning our elf hats, we headed to the streets where I realized that there actually were about five floats and maybe as many emergency vehicles.  That didn’t stop the fun though.  I threw candy at the kids while Wil dodged them.  We had a great time and I saw hardly anyone that I knew.

Sure enough, we all won Best In Show (stiff competition).  Can this go on my resume?

Wil and I are back right and all elfed up.

Wil sent me the link to the story of Charlie, the itty bitty coyote taken in by a woman that lives in a cabin in Wyoming.  First let me point out how adorable Wil is for thinking that this is as cute as I think it is.  Check out the pictures and stories and then tell me that you wouldn’t adopt a coyote in a heartbeat.
